Cambria, California

The Schoolhouse Lane apartment development is the first affordable housing complex on the north coast of San Luis Obispo County. Its 24 units and community facilities step down a steep, narrow lot bordering a stand of pine trees. Exteriors are styled after rural English rowhouse design, respecting Cambria’s attachment
to English architecture.

The project was initially considered controversial, but has been embraced by the community and an adjacent second phase has recently been designed by Fraser Seiple.
