Courtland Street Apartments is an affordable development of 36 rental units with a common building housing laundry, office, and assembly spaces. The one-, two-, and three-story project is site planned to provide a pedestrian zone well separated from vehicular circulation, meet highstandards for sustainability, and provide articulation and variety in building massing. Buildings placement along the northern property line optimizes
solar access and sets the project back from existing single family homes to the south.
The project is designed in an interpretation of the Craftsman tradition, referencing historic construction in adjacent neighborhoods. The single-loaded configuration of units allows effective natural ventilation and deep over-hangs are used to shade south-facing glazing. Courtland Street Apartments has received discretionary City approvals and is slated for construction in the near future.
